Remote Learning Information – May 2021

Dear parents/guardians and students

I hoped that you wouldn’t receive another letter such as this from me; however, I am sure you are well
aware of the announcement that Victoria will enter a circuit breaker lockdown from 11.59 pm tonight,
Thursday 27 May, to 11.59 pm on Thursday 3 June.

All Catholic schools will transition to remote learning from Monday, 31 May. To assist with preparing
for this, Friday 28 May will be a student-free day for all Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools
(MACS).

Parents/guardians who are essential workers and have no other form of supervision at home may
access supervision for the remote learning program at school. I ask that any parent/guardian in this
position contact Ms Deb Frizza via email: dfrizza@emmaus.vic.edu.au so we can arrange appropriate
supervision.

Year 10 and 11 exams will now begin on 7 June and finish on 16 June, a two-day delay. Year 9 Exams
will continue as currently scheduled, and Year 12 exams will start from 15 June. The Report Writing
Day will remain as currently listed on 15 June.

We have postponed the Year 10 Learning Assessments, the Year 9 Expo, and the Year 7 and 8 Music
Nights. All other events will occur as currently stated on the calendar, including our internal Work
Experience program for Year 10 students on June 17 – 18.

EISM sporting competitions scheduled for Tuesday 1 June (Year 8 – Central Division), Wednesday 2
June (Senior – Central and Eastern Division) and Thursday 3 June have also been cancelled in line with
Government restrictions.

Our ITS Helpdesk will be available from 7 am to 6 pm, via 9845 3222 or helpdesk@emmaus.vic.edu.au
An information booklet about the learning program for next week is available on Emmlink, parent and
student pages. I encourage all parents and students to read it carefully.

In summary, we will run with the same model we ran with earlier this year, with all classes to run on
Microsoft Teams and the teacher present for at least 10 minutes of the lesson to take the roll and
support student learning. Emmlink class pages will be the place to access the work required, and it is
where students will post their work for the teacher as requested.

I extend my sincere thanks for your understanding and support. May God’s blessings continue to be
with you, your family and your loved ones at this challenging time.

With every blessing,

Ms Karen Jebb
Principal
