Notes on wearing the uniform

Summer Uniform
All students are expected to wear the Emmaus College blazer, or a short-sleeved shirt with the College crest, or dress. The white shirt may be worn out, if of an appropriate fit. Plain white t-shirts, if worn, are NOT to be visible, specifically above the shirt collar. It is not permitted to wear the jumper (pullover) as an external garment when travelling to and from College. The summer uniform is compulsory in Terms 1 and 4.

Winter Uniform
All students are expected to wear the Emmaus College Blazer and tie. Parents/guardians should ensure that the collars of Emmaus logo shirts are sufficiently large as to provide comfortable wear with the top button fastened at all times. The shirt must be tucked in at all times. The tie is expected to be worn at all times, except in Physical Education and Drama classes. Bicycle riders may wear safety yellow raincoats. It is not permissible to wear the jumper as an external garment when travelling to and from College. Plain white t-shirts, if worn, are NOT to be visible above the shirt collar. The winter uniform is compulsory in Terms 2 and 3.

Physical Education Uniform
Students are required to have the correct Emmaus College Sports uniform for Physical Education classes and sports, including appropriate headwear during Terms 1 and 4. All inter-school sports teams are required to take to the field/court in the correct uniform for that sport. Teams are penalized, or forfeit, for incorrect uniforms. Students wearing incorrect sports uniform items may be withdrawn from the team. Students are only to wear their sports uniform on timetabled PE classes or approved EISM Sports days. The Emmaus College uniform is the main uniform. The sports uniform is for PE and sports only, it is not to be seen as an alternative uniform. The incorrect wearing of the PE uniform will result in the privilege of wearing it to school being withdrawn.

Drama/Dance
Students taking Drama/Dance (Years 9-12) are required to change into their Emmaus College ink tracksuit pants with the rugby top and sports shirt when required for practical activities.

Prescribed Shoes
Plain, all-black leather lace-up (not suede, not boots, not sports shoes, not Doc Martins, etc) school shoes are the prescribed uniform shoe for both boys and girls. Contact the College, prior to purchase, if uncertain about a particular style.

Headwear
Students are encouraged to wear the Emmaus College hat during recess and lunch breaks during Terms 1 and 4. On days when the UV Index is extreme students must either wear the College hat or remain in the shade. No other hat or beanie is to be worn with the College uniform.

The College cap is required for Physical Education and Sport classes during Terms 1 and 4 and may also be mandated for camps and excursions.
