2021 Online Subject Selection

In the current COVID-19 climate, the normal on-site Subject Selection Expo, which was scheduled to take place on Wednesday 29 July, will not be held this year.

Instead, you are invited to access Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 2021 Subject Selection Online on the College website. This will be available from Monday August 3, 2020 and can be accessed at
https://www.emmaus.vic.edu.au/learning/subject-selection-online/

There is no “live” event scheduled so the page can be accessed at your convenience.

Meanwhile, subject outlines for offerings in Years 9, 10, 11 and 12, as well as VCAL and VET information are currently available on the College Website. Current guidelines for selection at each level are also available for consideration.

To assist families with the choosing of subjects for the coming year we are working to provide additional material. The additional information, available online from August 3, will be a combination of video presentations on subjects offered for various year levels, the requirements and benefits of choosing subjects as well as the processes involved. Each Learning Area Leader is currently preparing supplementary information, available through EmmLink, with more detail about the subjects on offer. As a further support to the students, career pathways was the focus of last week’s Pastoral Period while subject selection will be the focus of the next two Pastoral sessions.

The subject selection Web Preferences form will be available at Subject Selection Online. The College Director of Daily Organisation and Timetable, Mr. Rob Mulholland, has prepared a video detailing this process. Your son/daughter will be emailed their login details and a personalised link to Web Preferences through their school email in the week beginning August 3. By following this link, they will find instructions on how to complete their selections and the subjects available to them. They will be able to enter their selections immediately and will have the ability to change these at any time within the subject selection period.

Whilst the link is sent to the student directly, it is important that there is discussion within each family about the subjects that are selected. At the completion of the on-line process there will be a prompt to print a confirmation receipt, listing the subjects that have been chosen. This receipt must be signed by both the student and a parent and returned to Student Services.

We look forward to assisting all parents and students moving into Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 in 2021 in making successful subject selections based on interests and needs.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
