2019 House Athletics Carnival – Friday 15 March

The 2019 House Athletics Carnival will be held at the Knox Athletics Track, Knox Park Road, Knoxfield (Melways 73 D7) on Friday 15th March 2019, 8:30-3:10 pm. The Carnival is a whole school event where all students participate in athletic events to gain points to assist their house to win the “House Athletic Shield”. There is also the “House Spirit Trophy” for the House displaying the most spirit and participationAll events on this day are also selection events for the EISM College Athletics team. If a student cannot participate on the House Athletics Carnival day or misses an event and they wish to represent the College at EISM events, they will need to attend the team training sessions.

TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTSStudents need to arrive at the track by 8:30 am for roll call. The College has arranged for ALL Charter buses to drop students at the track rather than at their respective Campus. The Ventura bus from Ferntree Gully will not drop off students at the track. Parents who would normally drop students at either Campus are also required to take their student directly to the track. If it is not possible to go directly to the track, buses will be available from Vermont South.

ARRIVAL: When students arrive at the Athletics track they will sign in at their respective House tables positioned outside the entrance gates. Students must get their name marked off the attendance roll for their Pastoral Group. They will then enter and sit in their House area and wait for the commencement of the athletics program. Events will commence at 9am.

DRESS: This is a House Spirit Day. Students should come to the track wearing their runners, house shirts or appropriate House coloured outfit OR College PE uniform/shorts. Jeans are not permitted as the focus is on House dress and not casual dress. As your son/daughter is participating in athletic events, they must compete in appropriate sporting attire.  The students are allowed coloured hairspray, zinc cream and make-up. There will be a “Best Dressed/Spirit” award for two members of each House. Hats and sunscreen are essential, as is a track suit top in case of wet weather. Extremes of outfits that misrepresent students and the College are not permitted.

CANCELLATIONIf the weather is deemed unsuitable for the Carnival to go ahead, a text message will be sent to alert all parents. Also check the College website. Normal classes will operate if a cancellation is announced. Arrangements will be made with the bus companies in case we have to return to normal classes.

FOOD/DRINK: Students can bring their food and drink requirements for the day, or they can purchase from the canteen which will be open most of the day. Students can buy food and drink when they are not involved in events.

DISMISSAL. The Carnival will conclude at 3:10 pm. There will be an afternoon attendance check at the track following the Presentations and then students will be dismissed. If your child catches a Charter bus, the bus will collect them from the track and continue their route as normal. Students booked on Vermont South buses will return to the Campus at approximately 3.40pm. Parents can also collect their child from the track. Please be patient and careful in the car park area due to the large volume of traffic and movement of students
